A continued privatization of cities and areas into distinct zones of influences and control is superimposed on architecture and urban design as a profession. Ideal utopian conditions and the policy driven strategies of architecture are becoming more and more obsolete. As a result the traditional tools and methods of design in architecture are losing their impact and significance.

In order to reconnect architecture more directly to contemporary issues and regain control of the design process, architecture needs to engage into its own methods of making. Dreifelderwirtschaft wants to contribute to this field, by understanding architecture as a multidisciplinary process. By expanding into related fields and opening up the architectural design process architecture can be rediscovered starting from the perimeter. By developing new sets of socio-economic relationships and embedding those in the design process, architecture can strengthen its ties to the contemporary cultural context.

Dreifelderwirtschaft is creating urban prototypes and typologies, to establish new narratives in architecture. By expanding into related fields and opening up the design process architecture is understood as a multidisciplinary process.
